A talented host of over 50 Laois musicians and performers will take to an open stage at Main Street, Portlaoise for a lively Christmas busking session on Thursday evening.

The busk on Main Street is a fundraiser for The Cuisle Centre in Portlaoise which supports local people dealing with cancer.

A stage will be set up on the street outside Kavanagh’s Pub with a host of different performers showing off their talents on the evening of Thursday, November 20 from 5.00pm to 9.30pm.

Local musician James O’Connor has organised the event, he will perform in Kavanagh’s Pub after the busk, donating his fee for the gig to the fundraiser. An open mic will continue inside the venue for the night.

James has gathered a number of brilliant local performers to take to the stage on the night including Alan Smyth, Joe Fitzpatrick, Jamie Bartley, David Harte, Terry Byrne, Niall Harney, Angela Byrne with Eamon Dunne and the Midlands Irish Sign Language Learners to name a few.

Over 50 local musicians and performers have come forward to donate their time and skills to entertain people on Main Street for a good cause.

There will also be a huge raffle on the night with over 20 prizes from local people and businesses.  See a full list of the prizes below.
