A meeting takes place in Stradbally this week to prepare for St Patrick's Day in the Laois parish.
Stradbally parish boasts three parades on Ireland's national day. 'Our very own place & people' is the theme of the 2019 parades. It is a reminder that pride in and care for the community which the organisers say is an important and special and very much part of the national heritage.
The school children are preparing their music and dancing as well as their project on 'Education In Our Community'. This St Patrick's Day is a Sunday celebration and also a stepping stone in parents and children's preparation for the Sacraments 2019.
St Patrick's Day cake and a cuppa will be provided after the three parades and celebrations.
Dominic Hartnett 087-3130504 is the Stradbally village parade director this year and you can contact him with suggestions, ideas and floats etc.
This is the 30th annual St Patrick's Day Stradbally parish parades.
The parades are organised around the parish masses – Vicarstown Parade to 9.30am; Mass, Timahoe to 10.30am Mass; Stradbally to 11.30am Mass.
A meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 6 at 8.15pm in St Joseph's Hall. All welcome to come along and get involved.
