Laois Rose Katelyn Cummins shares her seven deadly sins!

The autumn edition of Laois Life has recently hit the shelves, with Laois fashion icon and businessman Michael Fitzpatrick sharing his Seven Deadly Sins. To mark its release, we look back on our Seven Deadly Sins Q&A with Laois Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins from our Laois Life summer edition.

Laois Life sits down with recently selected Laois Rose Katelyn Cummins as we uncover her Seven Deadly Sins!

Lust: What do you find yourself lusting after today, and why?

Katelyn: "A weekend city break in Europe sounds pretty good to me! Trying some new foods and enjoying cocktails
with a scenic view sounds like my perfect dream. I have always loved to travel and I am always looking
for an excuse to book my next holiday!".

Greed: What should you be cutting down on and why?

Katelyn: "The time I spend on my phone is honestly ridiculous, I would really love to spend a few days without it! I
would like to learn to live without social media, and to live present and in the moment. It’s very hard to do that these days. It has always been something I’ve wanted to do, but I’ve never had the heart to follow through with it."

Gluttony: What one thing could you happily eat or drink until you burst, and why?

Katelyn: "No matter what time of year it is, I would happily eat my Mam’s Christmas dinner until I burst, there’s nothing quite like it! Her stuffing is truly one of a kind, it is definitely unbeatable! The rich gravy and sausage meat is not too often paired with a roast dinner, but I absolutely love it."

Sloth: What should you be putting your back into right now, and why?

Katelyn: "I would like to make more time for my family and friends, and to put more time into myself too. I’d like to put time into my hobbies and looking after myself. I think it’s easy to get swept away in the moment, and to forget about the things that are most important in life!".

Wrath: Who or what makes you angry and why?
Katelyn: "My Mam always does a food shop for our house on a Tuesday, and my family are quick to eat all the best things!

After two days, all of the good sweet treats in the house are gone! My siblings are quicker than I am. My brother is quick to the biscuit press, and my sister is to the fridge. The weekend always drags for me when there’s nothing I’m craving left in the house!"

Envy: Who or what are you jealous of, and why?
Katelyn: "I am so jealous of my younger brother who lives such a care free, relaxed life! He is in secondary school at the moment and has not one worry on his mind- his only concern is about the next time he gets to go golfing! I wish that I could go back to my early teenage years and be a kid again! I didn’t embrace it enough back then, but I definitely would now!".

Pride: What is your proudest achievement and why?

Katelyn: "My proudest achievement would definitely have to be winning Laois Rose 2025. It has always been a childhood dream of mine to be on the stage in Tralee one day, and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to represent my county in the 2025 Rose of Tralee International Festival.
