A GROUP of staff Laois County Council are running the Midlands Half Marathon this Sunday, August 12 in memory of their former friend and colleague Fiona (Purcell) Conroy and the Irish Cancer Society.

Fiona began working with Laois County Council in the summer of 1991 and was promoted to Town Clerk in Portlaoise, prior to her transfer to South Dublin County Council. She was very popular with staff, councillors and customers of the Council.

“Fiona’s friends and colleagues are delighted to do this run in her memory to bring to light her strength in battling the disease, her friendship, her smile, her sense of fun and most significantly her love of life, family and friends,” say the staff involved.
