‘None but Christ!’ is the battle cry of the Protestant Dissenters

July, 1834.

July, 1834.

Will you remain inert? Will you be ensnared by the mere cant of dependence upon God, regardless of your obligations to personal agency, with believing prayer? Let the principle of one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, animate us to protest with heart and habit - “None but Christ!”

I respectfully beg the Protestant Dissenters of Dublin, who are not identified with the Liberals, Levellers and Latitudinarians, that seek their own and not the things that are Christ’s, to hold an aggregate meeting for the consideration of passing events. I will obtain the use of Ebenezer Church for a preparatory meeting and deliberation, of such Presbyterians, Methodists, Moravians, and Independents, as may be desirous to avow their preference of an orthodox and a tolerant Protestant Establishment to an idolatrous and persecuting Popish supremacy.

I am, dear brethren, in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, yours faithfully,

JB M’Crea.
