There’s a chance for budding young thespians to tread the boards this weekend, with an open day organised by Laois Youth Theatre.
This Saturday, February 1, from 11am to 1pm in the Dunamaise Arts Centre, people will have the opportunity to meet current members and leaders and find out all about Laois Youth Theatre.
No auditions are necessary, and everyone can just come along on the day and give it a go.
Young people will get to explore drama through theatre games, get creative, learn about production processes, onstage processes, backstage and technical, while having fun, gaining confidence and making new friends. They can meet other YT groups countrywide and see professional theatre at reduced rates. New members are always welcome, aged 12 - 18 years, and workshops run in Portlaoise, Stradbally and Portarlington throughout the school term, October - December and February - June for just €60 per term.
The Laois Youth Theatre is an initiative of the Arts Office at Laois County Council, County Hall.
