THIS night next week, (Wednesday, March 16) the eleven Laois Roses will take to the stage all with one goal in mind - to represent Laois at the 2011 Regional Rose of Tralee Finals in Portlaoise over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
Last weekend, the Roses met each other for the first time and had the opportunity to grill reigning Rose Bernadette Ryan for tips and advice.
The incoming Rose will have high heels to fill, as Bernadette made it all the way to Tralee last year and the County will be hoping for similar glory this year.
Laois Rose co-ordinator, Sharon Preston was also on hand last weekend to offer the girls some last minute words of advice like wear shoes you can walk in!
“Don’t worry about anything,” Sharon advised the girls, “that’s my job.”
It will be a long day day for the eleven contestants as they have an early morning appointment with the hair and make-up team at Bankz Hair & Beauty before they meet the dreaded judges for the interviews.
One escort will also be chosen next week to represent Laois at Escort Bootcamp in the hope of being selected for the big job in Tralee. Paddy Hogan, Richie Lynch and David Bowe met the Roses last weekend and assured the girls that they will be at their every beck and call on the night. From securing safety pins to walking the girls on stage, the boys will definitely be put through their paces.
