The Opera Theatre Company are inviting audiences to Sing and Be Merry, when they play the Dunamaise this Friday, December 6.

The group are currently touring and will be bringing the show to a number of venues across the country, with shows in Blanchardstown, Longford, Tralee, Limerick, Kilkenny, Navan, Bray, Dun Laoghaire and Thurles.

This is the first time Opera Theatre Company has involved so many local singers in a production and throughout the tour there will be almost 600 singers performing on stage with the three soloists – internationally acclaimed soprano Virginia Kerr, Margaret Bridge (soprano) and Cormac Lawlor (bass-baritone).

It will be the Carlow Choral Society who will be performing with the company when they play in Laois.

The concert programme is lighthearted and seasonal and will entertain and delight music lovers of all ages, with rousing renditions of 12 Days of Christmas followed by awe inspiring moments of O Holy Night and Lakme’s sublime Flower Duet.

Highlights will also include the unforgettable Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

For bookings, contact the Dunamaise Arts Centre on 05786 63355.
