Laois GAA shoot down the idea of doubleheader with ladies team

For the second week in a row, the Laois ladies league fixture will be played at the exact same time as the men's fixture against Wexford. Both games are being played in Laois, which begs the question as to why a doubleheader was not a runner.

The ladies who are the current All-Ireland LGFA Intermediate Champions will face off against Tyrone in Crettyard at 2 pm this coming Sunday. At the same time, Laois Hire O'Moore Park will play host to Laois and Wexford in round 2 of the Division 4 National Football League.

This weekend's games are crucial for both teams in the context of each side's respective leagues. The Ladies will be hoping they can bounce back from a heavy defeat to Westmeath as they look to get their division 1 hopes back on track. The men will look to continue their good form following their opening-round away win over Sligo.

It is the understanding of the Leinster Express, that the Laois LGFA proposed the two games be played as part of a doubleheader but Laois GAA was not in favor of the idea. This fixture clash will come as a huge disappointment for many Laois football fans who would love to go to both games.
