This weekend sees the return of the Lidl National Leagues with the Laois ladies team back in Division 2 action. Laois face a trip to Fethard on Sunday to take on Tipperary.

This is Laois' fourth game in the league, having recorded two victories over Tyrone and Monaghan while they were unable to keep out Westmeath's attacking threat, which saw them ship seven goals against The Lake County.

Laois began their league campaign at home to Monaghan in Laois Hire O'Moore Park. A comfortable 3-14 to 1-6 victory eased them into competitive action for 2023. Sarah Ann Fitzgerald, Laura Nerney and Erone Fitzpatrick all raising green flags for the O'Moore girls.

The Westmeath game proved a step too far as Westmeath would go on to rack of a scoreline of 7-8 to Laois' 0-11 in St Loman's GAA. This fixture was always going to be tough as Westmeath played Senior football in 2022 before being relegated to the Interemediate grade for 2023.

Tyrone made the long trip down to Crettyard GAA for Round 3. This game ebbed and flowed throughout with Laois prevailing by the smallest margin, 3-8 to 3-7. Erone Fitzpatrick, Eva Galvin and Mo Nerney getting the Laois' goals on this occasion.

Donie Brennan and his team will be hopeful of promotion into Division 1 to match the level that the team will compete at in the All-Ireland Football Championship. Laois will also be hopeful of retaining their Senior status in the upcoming All-Ireland due to take place this summer.

The game throws in at 2pm in Fethard Town Park and tickets can be bought through this LINK.
