The Laois ladies team have suffered their second defeat of this year's Lidl National League as four points from Aimee Mackin proved crucial as Armagh defeated the All-Ireland Intermediate champions in the Athletic Grounds.
The defeat means that after five games, Laois have lost two games and won three games. Today's game was always going to prove difficult as Armagh came into the game with a 100% record in their first three games.
Armagh 0-10
Laois 0-5
Armagh raced into an early lead as they fired over four points without reply. Laois got their first score after 16 minutes as Mo Nerney raised a white flag. Nerney would score another point before the break as Armagh led by four points to two at the break. Nerney will be disappointed as she missed two frees, which would have put Laois in a more promising position.
Laois started the second-half brightly as they got the half's first score. The home side tacked on two further scores before Mackin was given a yellow card and spent 10 minutes on the sideline.
Donie Brennan's side failed to make the most of the extra player as the home county made it a five-point game with a further two scores. Laois would add two further points on the scoreboard before Armagh would do the same and wrap up a five-point victory.
Laois next game comes in the form of Cavan at home on March 19.
