O'Dempsey's GAA in Killenard have announced that the gate proceeds from an upcoming Gaelic football game will go towards a charity that helps repatriate the remains of people who have died outside Ireland.

The 2022 Laois senior football championship finalists have pledged funds raised at their Laois Division 1 game on Friday, May 12 against Graiguecullen to the fundraising effort of one of their players and his family for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

The late Shane O'Neill tragically lost his life in December 2022 while on holidays in Gran Canaria. The trust supported his family in bringing his body back to Ireland.

Shane's son Eimhín is a current member of the O'Dempsey's senior panel having won the Club's Young Player of the Year award in 2022 as well as captaining the Minor team in the county final.

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland.

Sponsorship cards will also be available in the clubhouse after the game. They would encourage their supporters to make a contribution to this very worthy cause.

The game throws-in at 7.45pm in O'Dempsey's GAA on Friday, May 12.
