Garrett Malone, who works at Holy Family Senior School in Portlaoise, has recently released his new GAA book entitled Goal-den Days. The book was launched Wednesday, December 6, at Kavanagh’s of Main Street in Portlaoise.
The book is illustrated by Scoil Chríost Rí student Molly Byrne, and with a foreword by sports journalist of the year, Malachy Clerkin of the Irish Times; the hardback book is described as “the coming-of-age memoir of a sports fanatic”. Roughly covering the period from 1985-1998, the book is an exercise in nostalgia, covering everything from the thrills of Italia ’90 to the tribulations of supporting Laois; and is a story which will resonate with those who collected Panini stickers or wore Mikasa gloves to training. The book is available from All Books Portlaoise , and also online from both Allbooks.ie and lettertecbookstore.com , priced at €15. Tap NEXT or ARROW to see more pictures from the book launch.
