The Laois Camogie team will be under new management in 2024 as the county looks to regroup after what has been a difficult few years for the O'Moore County.
Noel Brennan had been in charge for the 2023 season but he has stepped away with Pat Collier (Camross) and Robert Jones (St.Brigid's) taking Brennan's place for the year ahead.
Their selectors will be Declan Conroy (O’Moore's) and Bernadette Fitzpatrick (Naomh Eamann) while Birr native Barry Whelehan will be the team's hurling coach.
Trumera's Paul O'Brien is the strength and conditioning coach with Louise Mahony from The Harps taking the nutritionist role. Camross duo Niamh Bergin and Niall Cuddy are also involved with Bergin being listed as the Liaison Officer/Stats while Cuddy has been chosen as the water/hurley carrier.
Laois will be competing in Division 3A of the Very Camogie Leagues which gets underway on February 24 with an away game to near neighbours Kildare. A home game follows against Armagh before a trip to face Roscommon in the final game.
The All-Ireland Championships will begin on Saturday, May 25 with Laois now competing at the Premier Junior level following their relegation from the Intermediate grade after a defeat to Dublin. Laois had also been relegated in 2022 but the Camogie Association chose to reverse the decision saying that Laois would be too strong for the lowest division.
Laois have been drawn into a group of 6 in Group 1 while Group 2 only contains five teams. Laois will face Limerick, Mayo, Roscommon, Louth and Cavan. The other group features Tyrone, Down, Wicklow, Tipperary and Armagh. The top two sides in each group will reach the semi-finals.
Their first game of the season is four weeks away with Kildare being the opposition in the league on Saturday, February 24 for Collier and Jones' first game as joint-managers of the side.
