Laois Ladies taught a hard lesson by All-Ireland champions Dublin in the Leinster Championship

Stephen Duff's Laois Ladies side were put to the sword by Dublin in this afternoon's Leinster Championship Round Two contest in Laois Hire O'Moore Park.

Laois came into the came having lost by ten points against Meath last weekend as they went the full 30 minutes of the first-half without a score. Their first and only point coming after 32 minutes courtesy of Mo Nerney.

Dublin 5-19

Laois 0-1

Dublin almost raised a green flag with their first attack as Nicole Owens goal-bound effort was saved by Laois' Eimear Barry. With two minutes on the clock, Dublin were awarded a penalty after a foul on Caitlin Coffey. Chloe Darby stepped up and made mistake with her finish as she slotted the ball into the top corner. Barry was called into action soon after as she made a good save from Coffey to put the ball out for a 45'.

Dublin's first point came courtesy of Nicole Owens as Mick Bohan's side came bursting forward with power and pace. Kate Sullivan and Annabelle Timothy added to Dublin's lead before Sinead Farrelly prevented a certain goal as she flicked the ball away to prevent Dublin tapping the ball into the goal. Laois were dealt a massive blow just moments before as they lost Clodagh Dunne to a shoulder injury.

Chloe Darby (two), Sinead Goldrick and Caitlin Coffey kept the scoreboard ticking for Dublin as Laois struggled to create any scoring opportunities up the other end. Dublin would raise four more white flags before the end of the first period as Sullivan pointed on three occasions while Owens also added to her tally as The Dubs led 1-11 to 0-0 at the break. Laois' only chance for a score came late on as Mo Nerney free went to the right of the post as Jonathan Murphy blew for half-time.

Laois' only score opened the second-half's proceedings as Mo Nerney raised a white flag from play. Niamh Hetherton opened her account for The Dubs as did Grace Kós as Timothy added a free to her tally. Nicole Owens and Timothy scored a point each before the girls from the capital got their second goal as Timothy squared the ball to Hetherton to palm the ball home. The resulting kick-out saw another Dublin goal go in as Barry kicked the ball straight to Timothy and she kicked the ball back over Barry's head.

Chloe Darby took her tally to 1-3 as Carla Rowe came off the bench to point twice. Rowe then assisted Timothy for her second goal. The game ended with a fifth green flag for Mick Bohan's side as Timothy completed her hat-trick.

Laois will play the All-Ireland Intermediate champions Kildare next weekend in the final group game.
