A promising young Laois footballer is set to take to the pitch at Croke Park on All-Ireland final day.

Seán Slattery, a fifth class student in Rath NS and keen player with Courtwood GAA, has been selected to play at half-time in this year's All-Ireland football final on Sunday, July 28.

Seán was selected as the sole representative from Laois after attending the trials earlier this year.

Taking to social media, Courtwood GAA said: "It is a great achievement for him. Everybody in Rath NS and Courtwood GAA congratulate him and wish him well!"

While the Laois footballers aren't in the mix to join Seán in Croke Park on All-Ireland final day, they are set to make another trip to Croke Park on July 13 when they face Down in the Tailteann Cup final.
