Laois GAA looked to have filled the void left by Willie Maher with a fellow Tipperary native in the form of former Antrim manager Darren Gleeson.
Gleeson was at the helm for The Saffrons from 2019 until July of this year where he went on to win the Joe McDonagh Cup twice in 2020 and 2022.
Laois GAA posted a statement on social media to put forward his name for ratification, “The Laois GAA Executive Committee is pleased to announce our recommendation and formal proposal of Tipperary man, Darren Gleeson, for the position of the new Laois Senior Hurling Manager.
Subject to ratification by Club Delegates at the upcoming County Committee Meeting,” the statement read.
