The Laois Ladies are preparing for their league opener against Carlow following a series of challenge matches that have offered both highs and lows.

Their pre-season began with a narrow 1-9 to 1-8 loss to Waterford, followed by a more difficult 3-18 to 1-12 defeat to Tipperary. However, they showed resilience with a commanding 4-12 to 1-11 win over Leitrim.

Before the league begins, the Laois Ladies still have one more challenge match against the University of Maynooth on January 15.

Laois are operating in Division 3 of the league following their relegation from Division 2 in 2024 where they only managed to muster up a single point against league finalists Tyrone while under the management of Tom Devereux and Billy Kiernan. They'll be joined by Carlow, Limerick, Offaly, Down, Cavan, Louth and Wexford in Division 3.

Stephen Duff took over the team before the start of the Leinster and All-Ireland Championships, where he almost pulled off the great escape until a late Kildare penalty sent them down to the Intermediate grade in Carlow
