Laois will not be starting their Allianz National Hurling League campaign of 2025 due to weather and Storm Éowyn has nothing to do with it.
An overnight hard frost in the midlands has caused the postponement of their game with Westmeath in their National Hurling League Division 1B opener.
Confirming the postponement to a later date, Laois GAA said a frozen frozen Cusack Park pitch at in Mullingar makes the game unplayable. The game was due to throw in at 2pm on Saturday.
It's the latest disruption to the start of Tommy Fitzgerald tenure which also saw the weather hit a challenge match in Galway.
The GAA had already announced that the Allianz Football League Division 3 fixture between Leitroim and Laois had been rescheduled for 2pm Sunday, January 26, due to electrical issues caused by Storm Éowyn.
It added that the situation would continue to be monitored throughout the day in advance of the game tomorrow.
