This weekend was supposed to see inter-county action return for the Laois Senior footballers and hurlers, but neither side will play a game.

Justin McNulty's footballers were due to play Leitrim in Ballinamore on Saturday, but electricity issues forced the game to be called off and rescheduled for Sunday, January 25, at the same venue. Ballinamore is still experiencing those same issues, so Laois GAA have confirmed that the game has now been postponed, with the new fixture details set to be confirmed on Monday.

Tommy Fitzgerald's hurlers were also meant to start their league campaign away to Westmeath, but a frozen pitch in Mullingar forced that game to be called off.

The Laois Ladies will hope that they can get their game against Carlow played in the LOETB Centre of Excellence on Sunday, January 26 from 2pm.
