The Laois Minor Ladies Football team will have a shot at provincial silverware this weekend as they prepare to face Wexford in the Leinster LGFA Minor 'B' Championship Final.

Laois arrive in the final off the back of a strong campaign. While they suffered a setback against Wicklow, they bounced back impressively with wins over Wexford and Louth, posting an eye-catching 8-10 tally in the latter to finish top of the table.

Their semi-final showdown on Good Friday saw them pitted against Longford, a team that dropped into the 'B' Championship after a tough run in the higher-tier group. In a game full of attacking flair, Laois came out on top, winning 7-3 to 2-13 in Ratheniska.

Wexford’s journey to the final was far more dramatic. After progressing from the group stages, they went toe-to-toe with Meath in a marathon semi-final that needed extra-time and ultimately, the drama of free-kicks was needed to separate the sides. The Yellowbellies held their nerve in the end to book their final place.

Laois will hope to draw confidence from their earlier win over Wexford in the group stages, but finals are rarely predictable, especially with a resilient Wexford outfit looking for revenge.

Throw-in is at 2pm on Saturday, April 26, in Baltinglass GAA. Tickets are available to purchase here.
