Ellie May Lowry was outstanding as Camross recovered from a slow start to claim Roinn 1 Camogie Shield glory.
In what was the final Camogie game on Day 1 on Wednesday, May 14, Camross ran out convincing winners over Durrow in the end.
Camross 5-7
Durrow 0-5
Durrow made a brilliant start to this game and took the lead in the opening minutes via Juliette Quinn. Katelyn Donoghue doubled that before Camross found their scoring touch and quickly got on top.
Ellie May Lowry smashed in a goal and then raised two white flags in quick succession. She scored another goal soon after to move Camross further clear as we approached the interval. But Durrow finished the half well with a brace from Aishling Mahony, scoring twice from distance to leave it 2-2 to 0-4 at the break.
Aisling Mahony cut the deficit to one when play resumed, but then Ellie May Lowry completed her hat-trick after great work from Isobel Cuddy. Amber Palmer-O’Keeffe made it a six-point game with a fantastic score from long range. Camross continued on the front foot as Lowry produced a wonderful catch and finish for her fourth goal.
She followed that with a point as Camross now led by ten points, as Isobel Cuddy scored. There was no let up from Camross either as Kaidi Cuddy became the latest to raise a green flag. Saoirse Bredin and Kaidi Cuddy added points before the end to confirm Camross as champions. TEAMS AND SCORERS BELOW PICTURE.
