Ó Caomhánach leads the way for Trumera in Roinn 5 Hurling final

Gaelscoil Thromaire produced a superb all-round performance to claim victory against Mayo NS. With sharp shooting, excellent teamwork, and a standout display from Tadhg Ó Caomhánach, they built up a strong lead in the first half and continued to impress after the break to run out deserving winners.

It was Mayo who settled quickest, with Daire O’Sullivan opening the scoring from a free. But Gaelscoil Thromaire soon found their rhythm, and Tadhg Ó Caomhánach fired in the first of what would be an impressive five-goal haul.

Míchaeál Ó h-Éosa and Ó Caomhánach added further points before Mayo responded again through a long-range 45’ from O’Sullivan. Thromaire kept the scoreboard ticking, with Ó Caomhánach tagging on three more points, one of them from a free, along with efforts from Ó h-Éosa and Seán Ó Ceallacháin.

O’Sullivan, who was Mayo’s standout forward, pointed again before the break to take his tally to three points. But Gaelscoil Thromaire had opened up a commanding 3-9 to 0-3 lead by half-time.

The second half saw Gaelscoil Thromaire extend their advantage, but Mayo continued to work hard and never gave up. Ó Caomhánach added another 45’ before Ó h-Éosa and Ó Caomhánach struck for further scores. Goals from Cillian Ó Mathúna and Ó Caomhánach followed, stretching the lead.

There was still time for Ó h-Éosa and Ó Ceallacháin to find the net, while Seán MacDonnacha also raised a green flag. Paddy Ó Conchubhair and Ó Caomhánach both added points before Oisín Ó Duinn and Ó Ceallacháin chipped in with more goals.

As the game entered its final stages, Harry Ó Conchubhair netted another for Thromaire. Mayo continued to fight and were rewarded with well-taken points from MJ Dowling and Daire O’Sullivan.
