Molly's magic powers Tobar an Léínn Raheen to Shield success

Tobar an Léinn Raheen produced a strong second-half performance to overcome a spirited Presentation Portarlington side and claim the Roinn 2 Camogie Shield title in an exciting and hard-fought final.

The opening stages were evenly contested, with Megan McCausland getting Portarlington off the mark with the game’s first point. They soon pulled further ahead when Lily Powell found the net with a tidy finish, raising the first green flag of the day.

Raheen responded well, and their first score came in spectacular fashion as Katie Keyes fired in a long-range goal to level the game. Caoimhe O’Mahony then restored Portarlington’s lead with a goal of her own. However, Raheen clawed their way back thanks to two important points from Molly Donoghue, one from a placed ball, to leave just a single point between the sides at the break, Portarlington ahead 2-1 to 1-2.

The second half started quietly, but Raheen eventually found their rhythm. Rebecca Peake made a vital breakthrough as she struck her side’s second goal, turning the one-point deficit into a one-point lead.

From there, it was the Donoghue show. The talented forward added another point to stretch the gap before landing a superb long-range free to make it 3-4 to 2-1. Donoghue then capped a brilliant individual display by finding the back of the net and added a final free to bring her tally to 1-5. TEAMS AND SCORERS UNDER PICTURE.
