Padraig Dunne from Colt has received another major honour as he’s been appointed to referee the 2025 Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling Championship final.
The experienced Laois official will take charge of the clash between Galway and Kilkenny, continuing what has been a remarkable rise through the refereeing ranks in recent years.
Dunne has already presided over some of the biggest fixtures in club and inter-county hurling. Just last weekend, he was on the line for the Munster Championship meeting of Tipperary and Waterford. That came only months after he was the man in the middle for the 2024 All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship final, where Dublin champions Na Fianna took on Offaly’s Kilcormac-Killoughey.
Closer to home, Dunne has become a familiar figure in county finals, having refereed the Laois Senior Hurling decider in 2024, 2023 and the postponed 2020 final that was eventually played in 2021.

Now, he’ll take centre stage once again this Saturday evening, May 25, when Galway face Kilkenny in the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling Championship final at Laois Hire O’Moore Park, Portlaoise. Throw-in is at 5.15pm.
