Laois LGFA club to make Féile history in Derry

There’s a proud moment ahead for Park-Ratheniska LGFA this weekend as their U15 girls team travel to Derry to represent Laois in the national John West Féile competition.

The team will compete in the Division 2 section of the national Féile on Saturday, June 28, marking a historic occasion for the club. This is the first time a girls’ team from Park-Ratheniska has ever qualified for and attended a national Féile competition.

They'll be joined in Group 1 by Fergus Rovers (Clare), Navan O’Mahony’s (Meath) and Kildress Wolfe Tones (Tyrone) with the Division 2 action taking place in Castledawson, Derry.

Their journey to Derry was earned through a brilliant performance at county level earlier this year. The team were crowned Laois A Féile champions at the end of April, securing their place at the prestigious national event.

It’s a major achievement not only for the players and management but for the wider Park-Ratheniska club, which continues to grow and break new ground in ladies football.

As they head north this weekend, they do so with the honour of flying the Laois flag, and with the full support of their club and community behind them.
