Bright lights ahead for rural Laois GAA club with eco plan

A Laois GAA club has been given the green light to remove its old pitch floodlights and replace them with lower cost LED stadium floodlights.

Camross GAA club had applied to Laois County Council for the energy efficient swap for its four floodlights.

Cllr Conor Bergin had made a submission on behalf of the GAA club, to "strongly support" the application, which he said is "appropriate in scale and design for the area".

The club had said in their application say that the existing lights on wooden poles are only suited to training and not to matches.

They proposed to decommission them and replace them with LED stadium lights.

Conditional approval was granted on July 4.
