Clonad GAA Club will mark Culture Night 2025 with a special community screening of the award-winning Irish film An Cailín Ciúin on Friday, September 19, at their clubhouse. Doors will open at 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start.

The evening promises to be more than just a film screening, with organisers preparing a warm, cultural celebration for the community. Guests will be welcomed with complimentary refreshments, live traditional Irish music, and a cúpla focal as Gaeilge, making for what the club describes as “an unforgettable evening of film, music, and togetherness.”

The film, based on Claire Keegan’s novella Foster, has won both IFTA and BAFTA awards and has been hailed as one of the finest Irish films in recent years. Set in rural Ireland in the 1970s, it tells the story of Cáit, a quiet nine-year-old girl who spends a transformative summer with relatives.

The event is free of charge, but seating is limited. Attendees are encouraged to reserve in groups of 2, 4, or 6, or indicate if they are happy to be seated with others.

“Whether you’re a lifelong member of the Clonad community or visiting for the evening, a fáilte chroíúil awaits,” the club said. “Come and celebrate Irish culture, heritage, and music with us on this special night.”

Clonad GAA has also expressed its gratitude for the support of Laois County Council, Laois Arts, Creative Ireland Laois, and the ongoing assistance of An Fondúireacht Sheosaimh Mhic Dhonnacha in supporting its Irish language projects.
