A Laois GAA club has been given the green light for development of its facilities, to include a new gym and a training ball wall.
The Rock GAA club is near Mountmellick but in the Portlaoise Municipal District.
They had applied to Laois County Council in late August for permission to construct an extension to the front of the existing clubhouse to accommodate a new gym area, adding 27sqm to the 574sqm building.
They also sought approval to make alterations to the external and internal arrangements of the building to accommodate the new gym which will be on the ground floor.

Finally the club asked to construct a training ball wall with a wiremesh fenced enclosure with flood lighting, measuring 19 metres long and eight metres tall. Finally they asked for permission to include all ancillary services and associated site works at Strahard Mountmellick.
There were no submissions made to the council against the plans. It was approved on October 6, two weeks ahead of schedule.
