Courtwood and Portarlington will do it all again this Saturday evening, October 25, as the sides meet for the Laois Senior Football Championship final replay at 6.30pm in Laois Hire O'Moore Park.

The first encounter was a thrilling, see-saw battle that ended all square at Courtwood 1-15, Portarlington 2-12, meaning the county’s top prize is still up for grabs.

Portarlington, chasing their fifth SFC title in six years, came through the semi-finals with a win over Graiguecullen to maintain their dominance in the county. Their pedigree in finals is clear; they’ve won all four of their previous appearances in the last six seasons, and they’ll be looking to continue that remarkable run.

Courtwood, on the other hand, are making their first-ever SFC final appearance, having defeated the reigning 2023 champions St Joseph's in the semi-finals. Their players will be hoping to write their names into the history books and secure a historic first senior title for the club.

The initial clash had everything a county final should: early scores from Courtwood, including a fortuitous goal for Paul O’Flynn, and a second-half rollercoaster of emotion that saw the lead change multiple times. Alan Kinsella, Matthew Byron, and Ryan Little were among the key contributors for Courtwood, while Colm Murphy, Jake Foster, and Paddy O’Sullivan led the scoring for Portarlington. Alan Kinsella's goal for Courtwood in the 57th minute almost blew the roof off the stand in O'Moore Park before Portarlington battled back and went ahead again. Dylan Keane showed nerves of steel in injury time to send the final to a replay.

With Courtwood’s never-say-die attitude and Portarlington’s championship experience, the 2025 SFC replay is set to deliver another classic showdown. The winners of Saturday evening's final will take on Old Leighlin of Carlow in Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday, November 1, at 6.15pm in the quarter-finals of the AIB Leinster Club Senior Football Championship.
