Camross captain Aoife Collier lifts the Laois Intermediate Camogie Championship trophy in Laois Hire O'Moore Park last month
Camross Camogie Club’s remarkable 2025 campaign continues this weekend as they prepare to take on Meath champions Na Fianna in the AIB Leinster Club Intermediate Camogie Final.
The Laois side were crowned county champions in October after an impressive win over reigning champions St Brigid’s. That victory ended a frustrating run for Camross, who had not lifted the county title since 2021 despite reaching every final since. They lost to St Brigid’s in 2022 and 2024 and to O’Moore’s in 2023, making this year’s triumph particularly sweet.
Having reclaimed their Laois crown, Camross began their provincial journey away to the Westmeath champions on Sunday, November 2. Star forward Sarah Anne Fitzgerald led the way that day, hitting a superb 2-8 of her side’s 3-10 total in a strong opening-round win in the quarter-final.
The semi-final brought a clash with Kildare champions Naas, the same club St Brigid’s defeated in last year’s Leinster final. Played in Derrynaseera last Saturday, Camross produced a stunning attacking display, firing in six goals to book their place in this weekend’s decider. Standing in their way now are Na Fianna of Meath, the 2023 Leinster champions, setting up what promises to be an exciting contest.
In the build-up to the final, the club launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the growing costs of their success, including pitch hire, lights, physio, strength and conditioning, and recovery expenses. The response has been outstanding, with the fundraiser surpassing €7,400 at the time of writing. The link for the GoFundMe can be found HERE.
“Whether it was 6am pitch sessions or 7am gym sessions, it was no problem for this bunch of girls,” the club said in their appeal, praising the dedication and spirit shown by players and management over the past ten months.
The Leinster final will take place in SETU Carlow at 1pm on Sunday, November 16.
