'Pride and relief' in Laois as GAA/LGFA clubs hits fundraising target

A big fundraiser has paid off in Laois for Clonaslee St Manman's GAA / LGFA which has announced the conclusion o its Make Your Mark initiative with 'pride and relief'.  

December 28 marked the conclusion of the Make Your Mark on Fr Kehoe Park fundraiser with a draw, which featured a top prize of €5,000.

Chairman Rory Conroy addressed those in attendance at the GAA community gathering.

"There was relief, and pride in a job well done, and most importantly, pride in the unbelievable support the club continues to receive. There were moments during the fundraiser when the organisers struggled to see the finish line, so to not only reach it but to surpass our target is truly amazing. Achieving this goal is the culmination of an outstanding effort by the organising committee.

"Both Clonaslee St Manman's (GAA) and Clonaslee St Manmans (LGFA) are incredibly grateful to have such dedicated people involved," he said.

The fundraiser was held to support the further development of Fr Kehoe Park. People were invited to support the club by buying a €100 square. People who bought squares were entered in a draw held on December 28 that had a top prize of €5,000. Their names will also be on the club's pitch Legacy Plaque in honour of the support given.

The full results of the draw are:

• 1st Prize – €5,000 Breda Conroy, Shraduff, Clonaslee;
• 2nd Prize – €450 Hamper, sponsored by Frankie’s Hair Salon won by Donie Williams;
• 3rd Prize – Whiskey Hamper Sponsored by Shane Lowry & Clonaslee LGFA won by in Memory of James & Elizabeth Conroy, Boyle, Clonaslee;
• 4th Prize – €150 Condron’s Tyres Voucher won by Colm Downey;
• 5th Prize – Christmas Hamper sponsored by Clonform Construction won by John Leahy, Leahy Auctioneers;
• 6th Prize – Christmas Hamper sponsored by Condron’s Tyres won by Stephen Chapman, Whitegate, Co. Clare.

"Huge congratulations to all our winners and sincere thanks to everyone who supported the draw. While the fundraiser is officially closed, donations are welcome from anyone who wishes to have their name included on our Legacy Plaque," said Mr Conroy.

The Club celebrated the 25th anniversary of the formation of Clonaslee St Manman's, which was the merger of local hurling and Gaelic football clubs in the Slieve Blooms community.

Last year also marked the start of developing facilities.
