Laois Ladies footballer Sinéad Farrelly (St Joseph's) was among those present at the launch of a new Guaranteed Irish partnership with the GAA, a nationwide initiative that will see €20,000 distributed to local GAA clubs across the country.

The initiative, titled “Are You in the Guaranteed Irish Club?”, aims to recognise Guaranteed Irish member businesses that are actively involved in supporting their local GAA clubs and wider communities. Four clubs nationwide will benefit from the programme, with €5,000 awarded to each winning club, along with a special gift for their under-14 team and an exclusive photocall at Croke Park.

Guaranteed Irish is calling on its business members who are involved in local GAA clubs, teams or county setups to take part in the initiative, which is focused on rewarding those who give back beyond their core commercial activities. This year’s programme places a specific emphasis on the GAA, recognising its central role in social, sporting and cultural life across Ireland, including in counties such as Laois.

Speaking at the launch, Brid O’Connell, CEO of Guaranteed Irish, said the initiative is about celebrating businesses that actively strengthen their local communities.

“We are delighted to be joining forces with the GAA for our new community initiative in its first year. ‘Are You in the Guaranteed Irish Club?’ is about recognising the businesses that go beyond commerce and play an active role in strengthening their local communities. Many of our members are already deeply involved with GAA clubs across the country, and this initiative is our way of rewarding that commitment,” she said.

The scale of that community impact was underlined by KPMG research published in 2025, which estimates that Guaranteed Irish member businesses collectively contribute €59.3 million annually towards social value initiatives, demonstrating a sustained commitment to communities nationwide.

Guaranteed Irish operates as a national symbol of trust, helping consumers identify businesses that support jobs, community and Irish provenance. Membership is open to both Irish-owned and international companies operating in Ireland, provided they meet the organisation’s criteria.

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Jarlath Burns, also welcomed the partnership, noting the shared values between the two organisations.

“The GAA is built on local pride and community spirit, and that closely reflects the values of Guaranteed Irish. The Guaranteed Irish Club shines a light on businesses that support their local clubs and invest in the wellbeing of their communities,” he said.

Guaranteed Irish business members who are currently involved with a local GAA club, team or county are encouraged to apply for the programme, with further details available on the Guaranteed Irish website.
