Emo girls made it a double victory for the school last Tuesday when they followed up on boys success with this win over Portarlington in the Division 1 final.
They ran out comfortable winners in the end, but that doesn't tell the full story of what was a very competitive game. Emo took the lead through an Alice Kerins point, but Port hit back with a goal from Jessie Whelan.
They held that lead for eight minutes, until Emo got their first goal through the impressive Niamh Conroy. Megan Murray hit back to level the scores at 1-1 each, but Emo started to take control after that.
Niamh Conroy and Ciara Crowley fired in goals in quick succession, with Jessie Whelan pointing in response for Port. There was no halting the Emo momentum now, however, as the scores kept coming, with Ella Holden adding their fourth goal.
Ciara Crowley landed a point before the break, and at half time Emo lead 4-2 to 1-2.
The second half opened with another goal for Emo, as Niamh Conroy got her third, as Sinead Coffey got another point back for Port.
Ciara Crowley landed a free before Port hit two points in a row, as Megan Murray and Kate O'Reilly hit the target with impressive scores.
There was to be no denying Emo though, and they finished out the game with another Niamh Conroy goal to seal the win.
