Clonaghadoo held off a strong Derrylamogue side to claim the Boys Division 4 title by just one point last Tuesday afternoon.
In what was one of the best games played over the two days, Derrylamogue took an early lead through Eoin McEvoy, but Diarmuid Dooley quickly hit back for Clonaghadoo.
Those opening exchanges set the tone for a closely fought game, as McEvoy again edged Derrylamogue in front with a free, only to see Rory Lalor respond in kind for Clonaghadoo.
Those four points were the only scores in the opening 15 minutes, but the final five minutes of the half sprung to life. McEvoy goaled for Derrylamogue with a clincal finish to the bottom corner, before adding a point from a free.
They couldn't hold the lead to half time however, as Clonaghadoo's Adam Hunt scored 1-1 in a minute to lead the teams tied at 1-3 each at the interval.
The second half began with Brian McEvoy flicking the ball to the net, and Cathal McEvoy added a free moments later to see his side four ahead.
Derrylamogue came back, and Colin Bennett's goal along with Jack Lalor's free drew them level. In a frantic end to the game, Clonaghadoo hit two points from Jack Weston and Diarmuid Dooley to go two clear, and Derrylamogue could only get one back through Jack Lalor, as the men in marroon claimed a narrow victory.
