Malachy McEvoy, son of the legendary all-Ireland winning hurler Ned McEvoy is very kindly donating the ‘Feis Shield’ to Abbeyleix Heritage House to form part of their exhibition.

This shield was won by St Lazarian’s GAA club, Abbeyleix three times during the 1930s meaning that the club got to retain the shield.

When Ned McEvoy got married the club wanted to give him and his new wife a gift but, having very little funds they decided to present the newly married couple with the shield instead.

Abbeyleix Heritage House are delighted to receive this donation at an event to be held in the Heritage Centre on Friday June 15 at 8 pm.

All are welcome to attend.
