County Board Draw 2019
Tickets are now on sale for the Laois GAA Monster Draw. Have your chance to win part of the €126,000 overall prize fund and support Ballyfin GAA. County Board Draw
With the first draw taking place on Friday March 1st time is of the essence. Tickets can be purchased from any committee or team member. Tickets cost €130 which enters you into the four monthly draws. Each month €10,000 can be won as well as numerous other cash prizes. Installments of €32.50 DD for four months or a SO of €11 for 12 months will also secure an entry and full membership of our club. With the continuing growth and success of our Juvenile Club the funds raised from ticket purchases will provide much needed equipment and facilities required to aid their future development. The very successful tournament is coming to a conclusion on Saturday next February 23rd. Taking place in Heywood with the Shield semi-final at 7pm. Team 2 with Captain Ruairi Dunne takes on team 3 led by MJ Tierney.
The Cup semi-final between Scott Conroy’s team five plays Jamie Whelan’s Team 6 at 7:30pm. The Shield final at 8 will be between Padraig McMahon’s team 1 v 2 or 3.
Cup final at 8:30 will be between Sean Murphy’s team 4 v 5 or 6. All welcome and it promises to be a great evening’s entertainment.

On Saturday night February 23rd Camross juvenile club are hosting a first ever Teenage Disco for 1st to 3rd year students in the Community centre commencing at nine o’clock and concluding at midnight. Mountrath Bow Out
Kilcormac was the venue on Saturday week where Mountrath CS faced the reigning All-Ireland Senior B champions Colaiste Colhm Tullamore for a place in the Leinster final but in dreadful conditions Mountrath got off to a bad start but improved as the game approached the halfway mark and only two points separated the sides. Mountrath were favoured by the breeze on the restart but despite their best efforts they could not contain the champions who had seven points to spare at the final whistle. Tullamore now progress to meet Castlecomer in the decider. Camross were represented by Liam and Robbie Delaney with a third Delaney Dan came on a sub as did Tomas Keyes.
Camross were represented on the Laois camogie team that travelled to face Kilkenny at John Locke’s Park Callan on Sunday last. Well done Sara Cuddy who was part of the Carlow IT team that defeated the Garda College with a late goal to win the Purcell Shield on Thursday last.
CLG Bhaile an Chaisleáin extends sympathy to the family of the late Billy Doocey, Aughafan who passed away last week. Billy served as Secretary of Castletown Gaa in the early 80’s. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

The club would like to extend thanks to all who turned out on Friday weeks last for the Dominic Buggy Memorial seven-a side tournament. With over 50 players braving the cold, thee was some great contests taking place. Just over €1800 was raised for Pieta House.

County Board Tickets are now available from Crettyard Club Members at €130 each. There are four draws taking place with 35 cash prizes in each draw – the top prize being €10,000. The first draw will be held on Friday March 1st.
There was no winning jackpot ticket last Monday night. Numbers drawn were 19, 21, 23, 30. Kyle Dinner Dance
Kyle will hold their Dinner Dance in the Racket Hall Roscrea on this Friday, February 22. Presentation of Junior 'B' medals for 2018 will take place on the night. There has been huge interest in this and it promises to be a fun filled night. Due to the big numbers, we intend to start as close to 7.30pm as possible on the night. We hope to see you all there as we celebrate our 2018 season and look forward to a new challenge in 2019.
Membership is currently due for 2019. Social members are very welcome. Membership can be paid to any committee member or by contacting our treasurer Michael Quinlan. It is imperative that all memberships are paid up front as insurance costs has escalated tremendously in the last year.
County Board Draw
These €130 tickets are currently on sale and are a vital part of our fundraising endeavours for 2019. A percentage of all tickets sold stays within the club once we have passed our quota so we are appealing to all our members to support us in this draw. Laois Senior Scór takes place on this Friday the 22nd of February in Mountmellick Youth & Arts Centre. This competition is open to all GAA members over 17 years (over 17 on 01.01.19) or older who can dance, sing, tell a yarn, play an instrument or be part of a novelty group. So why not get your club involved?
For your information, Scór competitions are organized along similar lines to hurling and Gaelic football championships where the following events take place: Rince Fóirne (Céilí Dancing), Amhránaíocht Aonair (Solo Singing), Ceol Uirlise (Instrumental Music), Aithriseoirecht/Scealaíocht (Recitation/Storytelling), Bailéad Ghrúpa (Ballad Group), Leiriú (Novelty Act), Rince Seit (Set Dancing), Tráth na gCeisteanna (Table Quiz).
The winning team in each event (bar Table Quiz) will go on to compete in the semifinals for Leinster in Carlow on March 2nd at 4pm, whilst the Leinster Final will take place on March 10th in Wexford. The winning table quiz team will automatically go straight through to the All-Ireland. To win an All-Ireland title is seen as a great achievement and honor for any club.
The competition starts at 7.30pm and we look forward to seeing you all there.
Scór na bPaistí
Laois Scór na bPaistí will take place in Mountmellick Youth & Arts Centre on Sunday 7th April at 2pm. This promises to be a very entertaining afternoon with several clubs all ready expressing an interest in same. Events are the same as Senior Scór above. However, to facilitate everyone, ballad groups just need to sing one song on the evening. More details to follow over the next couple of weeks, if you would like clarification on anything please email email@example.com after 6pm any evening.
Mountmellick GAA Dinner Dance is on Saturday March 2 at 8pm in the Killeshin Hotel. During the evening medals will be presented to the Junior A hurling team and player of the year awards will be given to both hurlers and footballers. Tickets are €25.
Laois County Board draw
Tickets are currently on sale for the 2019 Laois GAA All County Clubs Members Draw. The Annual Fund Raising initiative run by the Laois County Board, it is one of our Clubs primary revenue sources with Park-Ratheniska taking home close to 3/4's of the purchase price. However only tickets bought from the Park-Ratheniska GAA Club benefit the Park-Ratheniska GAA Club, so please make sure to buy your tickets from a GAA Club member.
With the news of the newly acquired grant funding as part of the Sports Capital Grant programme there is an even bigger emphasis on this fundraiser this year as we strive to begin the development works as soon as possible.
These tickets remain our single most important fund-raiser for the club and members are urged to support this in every way possible, be it buying a full ticket, or perhaps sharing a ticket with some friends or family members. Tickets are €130 each and can be sourced from any GAA Club member. And if you feel you can't purchase a full ticket, then half and quarter shares are also available, so please, do what you can!

Camogie Presentation Night
Last year was another remarkable year in the history of Portlaoise Camogie club. This remarkable young club continued to compete at the highest level at all grades.
Portlaoise Chinese was the place to be on Sunday night as the Ladies came together to celebrate their success. It was another incredible year for the club as they contested County finals in U-12, U-16 and Minor. The U-14s were unluck to lose out to O’Moores in the County semi-final.
Portlaoise U-16’s however laid down another marker on the Laois Camogie scene as they overcame a spirited Harps side to claim the Laois Camogie U-16 ’A’ Championship Final with a scoreline of Portlaoise 6-7 The Harps 2-2.
With such great talent building in this youthful Club, Portlaoise Camogie club are excited to be entering its first ever Senior Camogie team into the Championship for 2019.
The club were delighted to be presented with a set of jerseys from Alan Tsang of Portlaoise Chinese on the night. The foundations have been laid and now the fruits of many years hard work by Mike Ryan and Teresa O’Reilly are seeing fruition, the future is certainly bright for this tremendous club.

It is one of the club's major fundraisers every year, and all support is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to purchase a ticket on your own, two or more people can club together to buy one, and there is also the option to pay for one over four months by direct debit. There are four draws later in the year, with a top prize of €10,000 in each draw, and a total of over €30,000 in prize money on offer each month.
