Dinner Dance
Kyle GAA held their much anticipated dinner dance in the Racket Hall Roscrea last Friday evening 22nd February. There was a huge turnout on the night to celebrate the junior b success of 2018 and to look forward with confidence to 2019.
The venue was fantastic which just added to the occasion. MC for the night was John Paul Nevin who ensured that everything flowed as seamlessly as possible. The medals were presented by Laois stalwart Matthew Whelan who spoke eloquently and proved a great hit. Fr Michael Harding also spoke of his attachment to Kyle and of his delight that such a small rural club was holding its own.
The two first aid Ladies Mary Quinlan and Lorraine Clarke were presented with a plaque in appreciation for their sterling efforts over the years, whilst Pat McKane was also presented with a small token of the clubs appreciation for guiding them back to junior A. Pat spoke briefly and praised his backroom staff for all their help whilst paying special mention to our physio Stephanie England.
Next up to speak was Noel Delaney who showed that he really should be in public speaking full time as he waxed lyrically about Kyle. Noel presented a special memento to Conall Nevin who was part of the victorious All Ireland Instrumental group Scór winners of 2018.
Last up was the Chairperson himself Mr Pat Hally who gave a in depth synopsis of the clubs history. Pat thanked everyone for all their support over the years and wished them the very best. He then singled out one individual who has been the backbone of the club for a long long time. Larry Levanzin is the man every club would love to have, groundsman & caretaker who ensures everything is always at hand for the players.
Larry was invited up where he received to a standing ovation a lifetime achievement award presented by Fr Michael (and thoroughly deserved may I add). That concluded the presentations and the dancing took over. Outa Diesel ensured that the dance floor was full all night and they were exceptionally brilliant! One can only wonder at how many instruments Jimmy Quinlan can actually play!
On behalf of Kyle GAA, we would like to thank everyone involved who made this night such a success and we look forward to the hurling year ahead once again under the guidance of Pat McKane!

Senior Scór
Laois Senior Scór was held in Mountmellick GAA clubhouse last Friday 22nd February. Numbers were low but that didn't stop the talent on display putting on a great show.
Many thanks to Mountmellick GAA for allowing us to host the finals in their fabulous venue. On the night, Kyle GAA emerged victorious in the Instrumental Music section whilst Pauric Dunne from Courtwood GAA won the solo singing award.
In the Tráth na gCeist section, Courtwood GAA beat off stiff competition from Camross GAA & Castletown GAA respectively. Kyle & Pauric now go on to represent Laois in the Leinster Final in Wexford (no semis this year), whilst Courtwood automatically go straight through to the All-Ireland in the Tráth na gCeist.
We wish them all the very best of luck as they go on to represent their club and county. We would also like to say a special thank you to the Scór committee for all their endeavours, and a massive thank you to the Stapleton family for looking after the much appreciated refreshments. Of course, it goes without saying that Mr Evergreen himself Michael Martin kept the show on the road!

Dinner Dance
Mountmellick GAA dinner dance is on Saturday March 2 at 8pm in the Killeshin Hotel. During the evening medals will be presented to the Junior A hurling team and player of the year awards will be given to both hurlers and footballers. Tickets are €25.
