In what was a thrilling encounter played in Rathleague on Friday evening, Portlaoise youngster Sean Culleton split the honors with a dramatic equalising point deep in injury-time to clinch a draw right out of Mountrath’s hands.

With a quarter of an hour on the clock, Portlaoise had opened up a comfortable 0-8 to 0-1 lead as well as a rising wide total of seven as they opened up the Mountrath defence almost at will.
However in the ten minutes approaching the close of the half, Mountrath slotted seven unanswered points to leave just three separating the sides at half time.
Mountrath picked up where they left after the break, and racked up six points in the fifteen minutes while Portlaoise could only manage two, giving Mountrath the lead for the first time in the game.
In a nip and tuck finish, eith four minutes of injury time played Sean Culleton was Portlaoise’s saviour as he split the posts to salvage a draw for his side.
