The U-16A Final turned out to be a hard fought battle between Camross and O’Moore’s. The O’Moore’s forwards ran amok in the first-half and built a winning lead by the break with five different players getting their goals.
Camross full-back Courtney Lally shut up shop in the second-half but the damage was already done. The O’Moore’s backs kept Camross at bay and helped protect the lead.
Camross were not helped by the fact that captain Aoife Burke was shown a straight red for dangerous use of the hurl in the first half and Lorna O’Sullivan of O’Moore’s was also shown the line when she was shown a second yellow in the second half.
The O’Moore’s machine was well oiled for this game and turned on the style throughout especially in the forwards where they were clinical. Timmy Heffernan, brother of the late Seán Heffernan presented the Sean Heffernan memorial cup to O’Moore’s captain Amy Loughman.
