It’s been another busy stretch for local golfers, with a series of competitions taking place at Portlaoise, Roscrea, and Mountrath Golf Clubs in recent days. From Singles Stablefords and Scrambles to Match-play finals and Open events, members turned out in great numbers to compete for the latest prizes across all divisions.
Presentation of Prizes: The presentation of prizes for all Club Match-play events took place on last Sunday, with results as follows: -
Scratch Cup: Winner; Fabian Jones and Runner-up; Eoin Dooley
Dooly Cup: Winner; Martin Moloney and Runner-up; Thomas Treacy
Summer Fourball: Winners; Luke Fitzgerald & Eoin Dooley and Runners-up; Joe Warren & Kevin Curley
Monaincha Cup: Winners; Eilis Holland-King & Jackie Meagher and Runners-up; Marie Kennedy & Gerry Hayes.
Winter League: Winter League Round 1 will run from Monday November 3 to Sunday November 9.
Lotto, Wednesday October 29: Numbers drawn 6, 24, 28 & 29. No Jackpot Winner. There was one Match 3 winner; Craig Clarke. Online Lucky Dip; Joe Murray. Offline Lucky Dip; Frank Murray. Next week’s Jackpot is €4,250.00. Your support makes a great difference. Lotto draw takes place Wednesday at 7.00pm. Lotto envelopes are available at the bar and sign-in areas. Roscrea Senior Men’s Golf Society: The ‘Away Outing’ to Moate GC will take place next Friday November 7. Tee booked from 9.30am to 10.15am.
Sympathy: Club members were saddened to hear of the death, which occurred on October 26, of Phil Meagher, Rosemary Square, Roscrea, former Lady Captain in 1975. As is customary the club provided a Guard of Honour at her removal to St Cronan's Church, Roscrea. To her sons David, Peter, Brian and Michael and daughters Helen and Ruth and her extended family go our deepest sympathy. May She Rest in Peace.
Ladies Golf
Competitions: Tuesday November 4 will be the start of our 15 Hole Stableford non qualifying competition. Holes open 1 - 15.
Due to weather conditions our 9 Hole Christmas 1 competition will run for another week until Sunday next November 9; also, our Winter League 1 continues until Sunday next November 9.
Reminder to record your Winter League scores on the computer but NOT on the sheet in the locker room. Let's get out and support our teams!!
ParTee Ladies: ParTee Ladies 9 Hole Competition takes place every Thursday at 2pm. Please contact Carol as early as possible for inclusion in the draw.
