The Captain’s Drive-In competition took place over the weekend of March 21-22 at Rathdowney Golf Club, with a strong turnout of 44 teams competing in a Texas Scramble format over 13 holes. It was a fantastic weekend, both with the weather and the golf. Captain Paddy Ryan Casey and Lady Captain Elaine Dowling were delighted with the support. The event proved highly competitive, with scoring tight at the top of the leaderboard. David Guilfoyle, alongside Peter Gray and Ciaran Keogh, claimed overall victory with an excellent net score of 40, winning on countback (last nine holes). Second place went to Matt Doyle, Gearoid Campion & Adrian Sheppard, also finishing on 40, narrowly losing out on countback. Michael Power, Kevin Keane & Eamonn Dowling secured third place, completing a trio of teams tied at the top score. The leading ladies’ team was Brigid Maher, Niamh Dunne and Claire Molloy, who finished with a strong score of 43 to top the ladies’ section.
