Costings and approval had to be secured before the goahaed could be given to fix a public streetlight in Graigucullen.

The requirement for a two-step process to be taken before repairs could take place emerged at a recent council meeting in Portlaoise, where it was confirmed that Laois County Council would repair a fallen in the coming weeks.

Independent Cllr Aisling Moran asked in a motion that the local authority repair the fallen light at the entrance to Barrowvale estate in the Laois Carlow town.

In a written response, the Roads Department stated that: “Road Design have sought and received costings for these works. They have been approved and will be carried out in the coming weeks.”
