Gardaí are investigating the incident
Gardaí are appealing for information after thousands of euro worth of jewellery was stolen from a house in Laois.
It was one of two houses which were burgled in the county on the evening of Tuesday, January 20. Gardai have issued appeals in relation to both crimes.
A burglary took place at a house in Killeshin between 6.20pm and 6.45pm on Tuesday. Those responsible gained entry to the property through a rear window of the house.
Gardai said the house was ransacked and €500 in cash and jewellery worth an estimated €8,000 was stolen. The culprit or culprits escaped through a rear window of the house.

Earlier on the same evening, Tuesday, January 20, at around 8.30pm a house in Crowe Lane, Portarlington was burgled.
Gardaí said entry was gained through a front window which was forced by the burglars. A bedroom was ransacked and jewellery worth an estimated €400 was stolen.
Gardaí want to hear from anyone who has information in relation to either burglary. They are keen to speak with anyone who witnessed anything suspicious and anyone who may have dashcam footage or CCTV from the area. Anyone with information is asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 867 4100.
