Laois town among most unromantic places in Ireland

Cappagh North in Laois ranked the second least romantic place in the country

The romantics out there will be disappointed to learn that a Laois town has ranked the second most unromantic place in the country.

That's according to HenParty.ie who have conducted an analysis of five years' worth of Google search data to determine the identity of Ireland's most loved-up spots.

Based on their findings, Athy, Co. Kildare has been crowned as Ireland’s most romantic town, scoring 578 out of a possible 800 on HenParty.ie’s loved-up scale.

However Cappagh North in Laois was the second least romantic, scoring just 51 out of a possible 800. The research was carried out by looking for searches for eight specific Valentine’s Day-related terms, including roses, flowers, perfume, red wine, white wine, prosecco, chocolates, and Notino (an online perfume retailer) and from there they made their discoveries.

Some of the other most lovey-dovey towns out there included Newbridge, County Kildare which came in second place followed by Ennis in Clare in third and fourth-place went to Carrick-on-Suir in Tipperary. On the other end of the scale Nohaval, Co. Cork was the most unromantic town across the nation.
