Nationally there were over 500 people waiting for a bed at hospitals around the country this morning

There are twenty patients waiting on trolleys at Portlaoise Hospital today, according to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO). 

Patients are waiting for beds on wards within the hospital and there are no patients waiting on trolleys in the Emergency Department. 

Nationally there were over 500 people waiting on trolleys around the country with the highest level of overcrowding reported in University Hospital Limerick where there were over 100 patients waiting on a bed this morning.
