Laois Sinn Féin will host their Easter Commemoration this Sunday in Killeshin.

The parade to Killeshin Cemetery will be led by a piper and colour party and it will start at the Killeshin Community Centre. It will finish at the Padraig MacGamhna Memorial cross opposite Killeshin Church where speeches will take place.

They will have a wreath laying ceremony on behalf of the MacGamhna (Gaffney) family, the local Cumann branch and Laois Sinn Féin. The Proclamation of Ireland and Roll of Honor will be read by the party's local election candidates.

"The event is being held in memory of Padraig MacGamhna, who fought and suffered in the fight for Ireland's freedom and who was one of Ireland's first TD's and an influential figure in the trade union," said the organisers.

The event is being organised by the Lacey Connor Motley (Graiguecullen) Cumann and local election candidate Aaron Kelly will be Chairperson at the event.

Following the Commemoration, guests are invited back to Brennans Bar in Graiguecullen for a raffle and some light refreshments. All are welcome to attend.

Those attending are asked to assemble at Killeshin Community Centre at 12pm on Sunday, March 31.
