Irish Rail has said rail services were delayed after a vehicle hit a bridge between Portarlington and Monasterevin.
“Services have been suspended between Monasterevin and Portarlington following a report a vehicle has struck a bridge in the area,” Irish Rail tweeted at about 5.48pm today.
Within ten minutes Irish Rail issued a new tweet stating that “services are resuming between Monasterevin and Portarlington.”
It is not uncommon for high sided vehicles to strike railway bridges. When it happens, the bridge has to be inspected before train services can continue.
Services are resuming between Monasterevin and Portarlington.
