Gardaí in the Laois Offaly Garda Division have urged drivers to slow down ahead of the May Bank Holiday weekend.
"The May Bank Holiday Weekend is a period where the risk of a fatal or serious injury collision is moderately high," said a Garda spokesperson.
"69 people have been killed on Irish roads already this year. We've knocked on more than 60 front doors to have to deliver the most earth shattering news to loved ones, "I'm sorry to tell you but.."
"Please drive safely this May Bank Holiday weekend."
