Laois to benefit from €3.9 million funding for Barrow Blueway

Funding of  €3.9 million has been allocated to complete the 46km Barrow Blueway route which transverses Laois and Kildare. 


The investment has been announced under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund (RRDF).


This project will complete the 46km Barrow Blueway route along the Grand Canal Barrow Line from Lowtown to Athy. The project will  stimulate and sustain employment opportunities and new economic activity in the towns and villages along the route in both Laois and Kildare. 


The funding was announced by  Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD on Monday, May 13 as part of a €164 million funding package for 30 landmark regeneration projects across the country.
